Highlights of the week_COS_physics_G9

Learners were introduced to the unit with the help of an activity where Newton spring balance was used and they could differentiate between mass and weight. Next, they were made to play games like tug of war, sprinting with a parachute and balancing the ball and transferring the same in a half cut pipe. From all these activities they were introduced to balanced and unbalanced forces and moment of force.

Grade 12 – Math HL – Highlights of the week

Grade 12 – Math HL – Highlights of the week

Dear Parents,

This week students learnt the following concepts with rigorous practice :

(A) Optimization problems
(B) Related Rates problems

With this we completed Differential calculus with rigorous practice exercise from Haese Math and Oxford Math books.

We also called students for extra classes on 30th July,2016 where we introduced Integral calculus to students by learning the concepts of integration using the Intuition as one of the ways of knowing and Thinking skills i.e. one of the approaches to thinking and learning skills. We did not introduce the rules of integration to students but a very good brain exercise where they were just told to find the integration as the undo of differentiation and students solved two worksheets which included complex sums without using any rules but using the logic behind it.

After this we explained literal and algebraic meaning of indefinite integration and explained some of the basic rules as follows:
(i) Integration of x^n
(ii) Integration of exponential and logarithmic functions
(iii) Integration of trigonometric functions like cos x, sin x, sec^2 x.

Students also completed the exercises of the above mentioned rules.

Krishna & Savita
