Day 4

Highlights :

U.O.I: Learners were tuned into the new unit through an activity integrated with PE.

Language : 1) Learners read a passage on The Humming Bird given in their Empowering English text and underlined the key ideas in it. Later, they demarcated the paragraphs based on the key ideas identified earlier. Also, the teacher introduced the skill of guessing the meaning of a word from its context.

2) Formative assessment taken up for the same.

Math: Discussion of math homework.

Homework :

Language with ease:– Complete Week 5– Day 4 and Day 5 in your writing notebook in tabular format.

Note : Parents kindly sign the Formative assessment and send the book back tomorrow itself.

  1. Write number names for the following numbers- 279, 315, 300
  2. Write the place value of the underlined digit- 256,  199, 279
  3. Write the predecessor and successor of the following numbers-  209, 300, 160
  4. Write forward counting from 301 to 350

Language:

Write an alliterative sentence on any sheet/piece of paper.

Alliteration occurs when a series of words in a row have the same first consonant sound.

e.g. Lions like lollipops

Frogs freak out in frocks.

Peacocks pop pink pizza.

Highlights

Language

The students read a passage on The Humming Bird given in their Empowering English text and underlined the key ideas in it. Later, they demarcated the paragraphs based on the key ideas identified earlier. Also, the teacher introduced the skill of guessing the meaning of a word from its context.

The students appeared for the formative assessment of language, wherein they were required to identify the main idea and demarcate the paragraphs based on the various key ideas. It was followed by the feedback from the students and discussion of the answers.

 

Homework

Read the following passage carefully and prepare an anchor chart identifying the main idea and key ideas. Mark paragraphs on the basis of the key ideas identified.

Gone are the days when mobile phones were considered as luxury thing to have with. The growing competition in mobile manufacturers has lowered the prices of mobile phones to that extent that nowadays, buying a mobile phone is not a big deal. Just spend a few bucks and you are proud owner of a mobile phone. In today’s time, it’s very hard to find a person who does not own a mobile phone. The small gadget is a basic necessity of life. What the mobile phones are meant for? Yeah, you answered it right- for communication. So the first and foremost role that mobile phones play in our lives is that they provide us an easy and fast way of communication. Go wherever you want, whenever you want; your mobile phone will stay you connected with all. The Internet is one of the biggest blessings to man by technology. One just cannot imagine the life without the Internet. Everyone likes/wants to stay connected with the Internet all the time. Thanks to the mobile phones that make it possible. A businessman can organize the schedule and set reminders, so he does not forget any important meeting. Mobile phones come packed with lot of business apps which makes their life easier. Thus, mobile phones are like a boon for businesses.

Note:  Get the FA book signed and bring tomorrow. Those who are left to submit the goal cards, please do so tomorrow without fail.

  • Learners read chapter 4 of “The GiverA” in groups using monitoring inner conversation strategy in order to comprehend and connect with the text.
[Unit Of Inquiry]
  • Learners identified the Key concepts, LOIs and related concepts of their current unit. They used their analytical skills and evaluation skills in order to narrow down to the focused concepts of the unit.

We discussed some basic concepts about polygons and its types. Further, we classified quadrilaterals under it and explored one of the properties about the quadrilaterals.

We orally summarised ‘The Giver’ book till chapter 2 and read the chapter 3 while annotating it.

Read the chapter 4 of the book and update the pros-cons list of rules in your language notebook.
