Dear Parents,

Sneak peek into the week gone by:-

Literature:-
This week we displayed different props in the class, students were allowed to touch it and thereafter they wrote what do the props symbolize in their life, through this we catered to multisensory approach to learning. Students also learned about the settings and historical background of ‘Othello’ – Moors and Venetians, which helped them understand Act one of Othello.

Language :-

Students were introduced to iambic pentameter, they also learned about stressed and unstressed syllable in a word. They practiced few exercises from Unit 3 to identify iambic pentameter.

Bookclub
Students were taken to the senior library where they made oral presentations in their book circles for their second book and they read and issued their third book in the remaining time of the slot.

Homework :-
An image is posted on Google Classroom along with guiding questions. students will describe the image with the help of guiding questions.

Dear Parents,

Sneak peek into the week gone by:-

Literature:-
We started with a new poem ‘Desiderata’ as initiation activity we explained them the importance of balance in life, students were also given snippets and asked to make a 2 min presentation explaining them with real life example. We also discussed last week’s homework questions from Cinderella, while they also learned few strategies to write answers like ‘FAST’ and ‘ACES’.

Language :-
Students listened to the story ‘Christmas Carol’ and spoke about what they liked about in each part of the story. Students learned’

Book Club
Students were taken to the senior library and they started reading their third book, few students also presented their second book in their book circle.

Homework
Students will create a poem (any form) using any one of the following topics :-
1. My Life, My choices,
2. What would you find in my closet and
3. ……And I could not stop laughing.

Dear parents,

This week, we had a guest lecture by in-school newsletter editors, Tahera Kinkhabwala and Shalini Fudhnawala on the role of editing. This was then followed by an activity to explain the importance of editing and how does editing take place. We had detailed discussions with students about the creative written tasks.

For HL, students have been given texts to attempt a comparative analysis answer for which they would submit by Tuesday, 13 September 2016. They have also begun with individual consultations for their written task and further oral activity.

Grade 8_ Exuberance, Vivacity _ Mathematics _ Highlights of the week_1st September 2016

Dear Parents and Students,

Here are the highlights of this week:

  1. We began the week with weekend homework discussion and doubts regarding Simple Factorization. Then we completed exercise 2.3
  2. Further Substitution concept was discussed and exercise 2.4 was solved.
  3. Next concept of Rearranging the Formulae was explained and we solved exercise 2.5 in the class. Remaining questions of it, which were not taken in the class, were given as homework.
  4. We started with Algebra Identities and discussed three identities in the class. Based on it, did few questions from exercise 2.6. We will be continuing this exercise next week.
  5. This week, we did an activity of expressing algebraic expressions through manipulatives  in Number Nagar with Kitscon manipulative. Students were given certain expressions and they need to represent them with manipulatives. Here are some moments from it:
