Dear Parents ,

The following topics were covered this week –

  1. The Students were given their GDC and basic instructions of using it were also given in the class. The students were made to feed in their names in the GDC and also set  the password.
  2. The students learnt to plot Parabolic  Graphs on GDC, they could find the x- intercept , y -intercept ,roots etc from GDC using G-Solv option .
  3. The students also  practiced to plot  parabola manually using vertex, x-intercept ,y-intercept and 1, 3,5, 7 method .

Grade 12 ESS Highlights

Grade 12 ESS Highlights

Towards the beginning of the cycle, Grade 12 ESS students explored the Internal Assessment for DP, using a few documents shared with them on the Google classroom. They also contemplated on possible topics that can be chosen by them.

Carrying forward the unit 5 “Soil Systems and Society”, they learnt about the composition of soil, its importance, appearance, horizons and soil structure. They also explored various concepts such as porosity, permeability and pH of the soil. This lead to the understanding of how to attain sustainability in soil.

This was followed by the sub-unit “Terrestrial food production systems and food choices.” In this sub-unit, they learnt about types of farming systems and compared them in terms of sustainability. There was a discussion on various food facts, how food distribution is a key factor in world hunger problem and about the rising cost of food. They were made to connect food related issues with politics of food supply as well as food production/distribution systems in more and less economically developed countries.

They were given ESS Practice Assignment no 3 as homework which they are expected to submit on their return from the long weekend.

Grade 11 ESS Highlights

Grade 11 ESS Highlights

Grade 11 ESS students learnt about various topics under the sub-unit “Systems and Models”. It began with understanding the term “system” in general and then we moved on to understanding the same in context with ESS. They learnt different types of systems, flow and storages of energy as well as examples for the same. They were introduced and detailed about “Gaia hypothesis”.  This was followed by the sub-unit “Energy and Equlibria.” This sub-unit began with acquiring the understanding of two laws of thermodynamics and examples for the same.
