Valuing what we have

Valuing what we have

Under the on going unit “Risks and Challenges”, the learners of Grade 4 today participated in a Hunger Banquet. This activity was conducted with an aim of helping students realize the value of the comforts and luxuries that they have, that the families that they are born into is a privilege for them and to help them empathize with the under privileged people. Using a draw of chit, they were made to select the kind of cuisine and menu that they were served during the lunch. The options included lavish lunch, food similar to what is served as a mid day meal in government schools, dal – roti and regular simple food. The learners reacted in different ways and attempted relating to the plight of the under-privileged children by consuming similar type of food.
