[Highlight Of The Day]

UOI: Tuning in to the unit ‘Media’ was done as an integration with Arts.

Language: The teacher modeled to make descriptive sentences from a given sentence. The students also, made the same.

Homework

Language: Read chapter- 9 of Charlotte’s Web and underline sensory words.

Math: i) Students have to simplify the following sums in their Math notebook:

a) 30/48
b) 38/36
c) 7/ 13
d) 63/21
e) 20/28

Math : Learners were provided a situation for which they had to create the survey questionnaire. Within the group, they came up with questions, keeping in mind variety of close ended questions.

Language : Learners discussed question-answers of the chapter ‘A fable of fortunes’ from Empowering English.

Homework :

Inquiry : Learners are provided ‘Parents Undertaking’ related to the current unit of who we are. Parents are requested to go through the undertaking and sign the same. Learners shall, then, stick the same in their Inquiry journals.

Math : Collaborate with in your group and create the google form for the questions planned by you, today in the class.

Language : Write the answers in your language notebook for the questions discussed in the class.

Inviting Parents’ and Students Articles for School Magazine (2nd Edition)

Dear Parents’ & Students,

We have received an overwhelming response from you for the 1st edition of our school magazine. The 2nd edition is due now and once again we are looking for potential journalists, artists, photographers, writers to contribute to our school magazine. 

We have shortlisted a few topics to give you a start-up, but you are free to write on any topic of your choice.

These topics can be attempted both by the students and the parents’

  • Do you remember dreams? Please share one (Grade 1 – 3)
  • My favorite Pizza Topping (Grade 1 -12)
  • Write a story about a magical tree (Grade 1 – 3)
  • Is it better to have older siblings or younger siblings? Article or Poem (Grade 1 -12)
  • Winter mornings (Article or Poem) (Grade 1 -12, parents)
  • My role model (Grade 1 -12)
  • The power of words!! (Grade 1 -12, parents)
  • My Grandparents (living with them and loving them (Grade 1 -12, parents)
  • The wait for PYP Exhibition (Grade 5 only)
  • My pocket money vanished when pink notes appeared (Grade 4-12)
  • Make your own comic strip (Grade 4-12, parents)
  • Gadget gizmos or Computer geeks?? (Grade 7-12)
  • India and Indians under the Trump monarchy (Grade 11-12, parents)
  • Demonetization (Grade 11-12, parents)
  • Essay Photography (conditions apply, anyone interested in this category please meet the newsletter team) (Grade 7-12)
  • Jokes, puzzles/riddles (Educational) (Grade 1 to 12, parents)
  • Interviews of school staff members (Grade 3-12) *Get your questions checked before conducting the interview, not more than 5-8 questions)
  • Book review (Grade 7-12, parents)
  • Poster / Artwork (Grade 7-12, parents)

  • Is it better to have older siblings or younger siblings? Article or Poem
  • Life Classes (If I had to raise my child all over again, I’d finger-paint more, and point the finger less)
  • Should there be minimum educational qualification criteria to become MP, MLA

The last date of submission of the article is Monday, 6th Feb, 2017. Please submit original entries only (only soft copies will be accepted), at least 70% of your write should be original. If you have used references from any place, please be sure to add all the references in the footnote of the article. Please mention your full name, grade, and the section at the end of the article and share it with newsletter@fountainheadschools.org.

Language: Today based on the story “The bat, the Bramble and the cormorant”, we discussed questions at the end to comprehend the story.

UOI: Students unpacked the CI and Key concepts of new unit.

TDT: Who we are

Central Idea: Changes people experience at different stages of their lives affect their evolving sense of self.

Key concepts: Perspective, Responsibility and Change

Homework:

Lang- Write all the question answers of ‘Fables of Fortune’ in Lang notebook. Write in detail and in complete sentence.

Note- Copying questions is not compulsory.

Math- Complete and share the questionnaire made in groups with me. I’ve just received the survey form of one group, who was making questionnaire on Restaurant.

[Highlight Of The Day] [Unit Of Inquiry]

Students had a wonderful culmination of their unit on civilization catered under the TDT – Where We Are In Place And Time. The unit was culminated through a celebration of learning event held in grade 5 where the parents got an opportunity to assess their ward and also witness the amazing presentations prepared by the enthusiastic students.

Language

: Learners revised and edited their draft of discussion genre through ARMS and CUPS and published the final discussion genre following the 6 traits of writing as well as writing process.

Math

: Construction of meaning for division of decimals by 10,100,1000 was done.
[Unit Of Inquiry]: Learners presented their learning and understanding of the Civilization unit through ‘Celebration Of Learning’ event.

  • Learners framed the central idea and derived the lines of inquiry.

Central Idea: Changes people experience at different stages of their lives affect their evolving sense of self.

-Cultural beliefs associated with pubertal changes (Perspective)

-How do we accept and evolve through these changes (Responsibility)

Skills: Self-management– healthy lifestyle, informed choices, safety.

Language

  • Students read the chapter “A fable of fortune” in the class and answered the questions related to the chapter.
