Dream and Wonder: Y-BOX

Dear Parents,
Our most awaited event of the academic year ‘Y – Box Performance’ is going to begin from 10th January. The schedule for the event is as follows: 
12th January:    Dream and Wonder
The timings for the event will be from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.
Reach the venue and be seated by 8:45 am. The performances will start sharp at 9:00 am.
We are glad to invite you all for our special event ‘Sangachadwam’ wherein our students will be showcasing their journey of learning through dance, music, and drama.
Sangachadwam means coming together as one, so let’s all unite in spirit and appreciate the efforts of our young performers.
The costumes decided for the Y-box performances are:
BOYS: Denim Jeans (Blue) and Red T-shirt/shirt.
GIRLS: Denim skirt (Blue) and Red T-shirt/top.
We would be glad if parents also follow the same color code for the day.

[Highlight Of The Day]

U.O.I. : A brainstorming session upon the word- Media was taken in the class, wherein the students shared their current understanding about the word and also shared the reason behind the same.

Math: Revision of all concepts learnt so far (using khan academy).

ICT : Students learnt about the mailing guidelines, E-mail netiquettes, purpose and use of E-mail and how to draft a mail independently on chrome books.

D) Simplify the following fractions:

Challenge: Simplify and check whether the following fractions are equivalent or not:

Language: Students have to find at least five synonyms of the word ‘go’ using ‘Thesaurus’ and frame sentences using any two of them.

  • WOW:- Hibernation\ Migration
  • Read alouds from the Senior KG book’s list
  • Y- box practice

Math:-

  1. Introduction of patterns with 4 attributes.(identifying the pattern,extending and creating a pattern)
  2. Introduction of number names from 91 -99
  3. Revision of half past clock ,number number names and patterns was done through centres.

Language:

  1. Introduction of the digraph “ie” with an action and a song.Words taken are :pie, tie, die, lie, cried, fried, dried, tied, magpie , tried.
  2. Introduction of the sight words : upon, always, also, eight.was done through  writing sentences in the note books.
  3. Guided and independent reading of the Cambridge readers was done.

UOI:

Rotation & Revolution:

  • Trans-disciplinary theme: How the world works.
  • Central idea: The Earth’s natural cycles influence the activity of living things.

Self reflection of the unit was taken through a worksheet.

Weekend homework:

Math: Worksheet on skip count by 5.

Language : Writing “ie” words in the notebook once.

Language: a). Students practiced adding brilliant  details to a setting and a character by using sensory words, similes and various adjectives.

b). Descriptive passages were read from various chapter books to bring in more familiarity in descriptive writing and for creating a stronger base in writing.

Highlights and homework – Day 6 – January 6th

Inquiry : Students along with the teachers framed the essential agreements for the unit in order to create a respectful, conducive and comfortable learning environment in the class. They were given a contract to sign. They read the contract and took the oath of the agreements from the contract.

Language : Student revised the etiquette and sentence starters in debate. The topic of debate was introduced and the students were divided in two teams where they were in either for or against the topic. “Borrowing is always a bad thing”

Math : Students learned the importance of conclusion of the data and further learned about the etiquette while conducting survey.

Homework :

Inquiry : Read the contract with your parents and ask your parents to sign the same.

Math : 1. Revise everything that they have learnt so far in data handling.  2. Complete the mix bag.

Language : Research on your topic and write your points on the left side of the T-chart.

Portfolio : Complete your portfolio task and come prepared with your pieces on Day 1.
