## Highlights and homework for 17th January 2017

[Highlight Of The Day]

Language

Students extended the ending of the story “Two dogs and the moon”.

We also had a rich discussion on the task from Page 83 of Empowering English. Students first jotted down points individually on sticky notes and then they were discussed as a class. The topics discussed were ‘Real vs Mechanical’, ‘Comfort zone’ and ‘Love and habit’. This helped students conduct meaningful discussions and develop their Thinking skills.

Learners were grouped and given topics for debate, followed by a game for enhancing their debating and communication skills.

Math

Students learnt how to conclude the results of the survey that they had conducted.

Homework

Language

Create a T-chart. Research on the debate topic given to you for debate and write points on the left-hand side of the T-chart.

Refer to the language task on page no. 84. Pick the idiom as per your number. For example, Roll no. 1- the first idiom (ask for the moon), Roll no. 2 – the second idiom (once in a blue moon) and so on. Find the meaning of the idiom and use it in a sentence. Write it in your language notebook.

Math

– You need to consolidate your research work in a similar manner. You need to do it individually on a google doc and share it with Chandni ma’am.

2) Additionally, you need to think of creative methods to represent your findings and note down the idea in your math notebook. We shall discuss this in the class tomorrow. You can represent it using a video, info graph, pictograph, ppt, charts or ant other creative graphs like these-

See you all tomorrow… 🙂

Day 1

HighlightsÂÂ

Language: A rich discussion was taken from the task on Page 83 of Empowering English. Students first jotted down points individually in their books and then they were discussed as a class. The topics discussed were ‘Real vs Mechanical’, ‘Comfort zone’ and ‘Love and habit’. This helped students conduct meaningful discussions and develop their Thinking skills.

Later, the rubric for the Summative assessment of Debate was discussed with the students. The class was divided into 4 groups for the debate and the format of the same was discussed with them, after which they were given their topics.

Then, they played a game to enhance their Rebuttal and quick thinking skills. In this game, the students divided themselves into pairs. one student made a statement (on any topic) and the pair had to reply to the statement by saying ‘I couldn’t disagree more’ and then give a reason why.

Math: After having the questionnaire of all 5 groups, a class discussion was taken and the final questionnaire was made by the teacher with inputs from all the students. Google form was used for creating the questionnaire. This questionnaire will be sent to the buddy class by which we will be able to collect data for the survey.

Homework :ÂÂ

Language: Choose the idiom, according to your roll number, from Page 84 of Empowering English. Look for the meaning of the idiom and write it in your Language notebook. Then,  frame a sentence using the idiom.

Research for your debate topic. Write points on the left hand side of the T-chart, so when you have the next session you are ready with your points and will get more time to share it and collaborate as a group.
