Highlights and homework – Day 1 – January 25th

UOI :

Learners were asked to get into pairs and each pair was given a situational chit so as to discuss their perspective about a particular situation. These situations were based on beliefs, rituals and societal norms. Each pair shared their opinion about the situation allotted to them and why did they believe in it.

Learners, further, read three informative articles based on cultural beliefs, rituals  and scientific reasoning related to menstruation and circumcision.

Links :  Menstruation : https://mythrispeaks.wordpress.com/2014/03/26/menstrual-taboos-and-ancient-wisdom/ Circumsized : Myth : http://intaction.org/10-myths-about-circumcision/ Scientific logic : http://www.webmd.com/sexual-conditions/guide/circumcision

Language:-

Students were introduced to famous places to visit in places like Egypt, Nepal and Turkey and also about the things these places are well known for. This was done to tune them into the poems ‘The Distance’ and ‘Travel’ given in their Empowering English textbook. They were then given time to read these poems and to write their summary in notebooks.  Later, we conducted the summative assessment for debate in the classroom.

Homework:-

For today : Complete Hindi and Gujarati homework

For tomorrow :

UOI : Inquire about the Beliefs & Values in your family and try to find out the reason behind it. Make notes about them in your UOI notebook.
