Dear parents and students,

In the Eco-tourism Unit this week we have completed the following:

1. The students were divided in group of 4-5 and were given a tourist place. They were asked to prepare a presentation of that tourist place. They were shown an example and were allowed to research using their chrome book. They presented it in the class.

2. They were asked to prepare an itinerary for the same place which they explored in the previous activity in the same group. They were shown an example for the same.

Next there will be their summative assessment where they will prepare a presentation individually.

G9 – Literature – Highlights of the Week

Dear Parents,

We have completed the poem Passion by Kathleen Raine. Students were given a 25m question for this poem - How does Raine use images and language to portray a change in mood and tone of the poem?

Students were expected to complete their answer the next day and share with me.

We have started with a new poem – For The Grandmother Knitting by Liz Lochhead. An initiation activity was conducted where students were asked to create a poem or a drawing or write a letter to their grandmother. The objective was to understand the bonding they share with their grandmother.

Dear Parents,
Here are the highlights of this week:
1. Students have completed exercise 11.3 related to Grouped discrete data and learned to make Grouped continuous data using inequalities.
2. One example was given in class to practice grouped continuous data as sums related to it was not given in the textbook they refer in class.
3. They learned new way of representing data through Pie Charts, compound bar Chart and line graph and applied their learning in exercise 11.4.

ESS Updates for Grade 11

ESS Updates for Grade 11

ESS students in grade 11 completed the unit on Flows of Energy and matter. This was then followed by the sub-unit “Biomes, zonation and succession.” In this portion, they learnt about 5 different types of biomes with reference to features such as temperature, precipitation, vegetation, wildlife, NPP and issues generally observed in each of these biomes. They watched a few videos to understand the variety of biomes.

Following this was the discussion around vegetation succession and zonation. The learners gathered the knowledge and understanding regarding these two concepts and also watched two videos pertaining to the same. They also learnt about the “Tri cellular model” of the atmosphere and related it to why different biomes exist at different places in the world. The students also enjoyed playing 3 different quizzes related to Ecosystem and Ecology through Kahoot.

Dear Parents,

This week we finished the novel “Wonder”. The children had an enriching discussion on the themes and excerpts.  We also made groups for the upcoming Summative Assessment. Preparations for the SA will begin on Monday.

The students are expected to work on their research reports, the deadline of which is on 31st January.

  1. Students were shared with an online worksheet – Simplifying expression. In this worksheet they were expected to solve the questions using ICT tools. Logic behind making them solve this worksheet online is to prepare them for e-assessments.
  2. Students were shown one TED video on ‘Why x is unknown?’. Students got to know from where the x  letter for unknown came from.
  3. Commutative laws, Associative laws and Distributive laws were reinforced.
  4. Weekend H.W. has been given.

Grade 9 Fortuity_International Mathematics – Extended_Highlights of the week_27/01/2017

Dear Parents,

Here’s what we did this week:

  1. Students practiced questions based on Sine and Cosine rule.
  2. Students were also taught to find the area of triangles using trigonometric functions.
  3. Students solved questions based on the above concept.
  4. Students were also taught the concept of angle of elevation and depression.
  5. They have been given homework based on the above concept, submission of which is Monday.
