Lang- Today, the class read a beautiful poem written by Agnes Maxwell-Hall – ‘ Jamaica Market’, from the chapter ‘Ordinary objects, extraordinary beauty’ from Empowering English book. We understood the meaning of the verses and we categorised the things mentioned in the poem.
UOI: Students saw two pictures, one of a girl and another of a boy and were asked to comment on these two. They then shared with the class that on what basis they commented on these pictures and also how their comments would make them feel about themselves. Through this activity, the concept of self esteem was introduced in the classroom through which students inferred that self esteem is basically an opinion/view point a person has for himself/herself. They acknowledged the fact that self esteem is formed by an individual’s opinion about themselves, which describes their overall sense of self worth or personal value. Self esteem can involve an assortment of beliefs about the self, such as the assessment of one’s own outlook, value system emotions and conducts.
