Please refer the following details for second term Math HL exams, April 2017 :

1. Syllabus component :

Unit 1 – Algebra
(a) Sequences and Series
(b) The Binomial Theorem
(c) Exponents and Logarithms
(d) Proof by Mathematical Induction

Unit 2 – Entire Functions and equations

Unit 4 – Vectors
(a) Basic concepts of vectors
(b) Scalar product of two vectors
(c) The angle between two vectors, perpendicular and parallel vectors
(d) Vector equation of a line in two and three dimensions.The angle between two lines.
(e) Coincident, parallel, intersecting and skew lines; distinguishing between these cases.Points of intersection.

Unit 5 – Statistics and Probability
All concepts except Normal distribution

Unit 6 – Calculus
(a) The limit concepts
(b) Continuity and convergence
(c) The first principle of differentiations
(d) Tangent and normal lines to the curves
(e) The second and higher order derivatives
(d) Simple rules of differentiation , product rule, quotient rule, chain rule for composite functions
(e) Related rates of change
(f) Implicit differentiation
(g) Identification of increasing and decreasing functions

2. Assessment component :

(i) Paper 1 (2 hours)
No calculator allowed. (100 marks)
Section A
Compulsory short-response questions based on the core syllabus.
Section B
Compulsory extended-response questions based on the core syllabus.

(ii) Paper 2 (2 hours)
Graphic display calculator required. (100 marks)

Math:

 Division with 0 and 1 was catered in class. Later students revised the division vocabulary in class.

Teacher used monterro cubes and modelled how to divide a specific number. Later learners’ were given sums to solve independently.

Lang:

Dictation was taken.

Following is the new word list given today  

( Upon, President, Brown, Trouble, lost, sent, symbols, wear, experiment, engine, alone, drawing, single, company, probably, necessary, major, army, forest, chance)

UOI:

The aspects “Management” and “Conservation” was catered today where learners’ were showed a video and later an article was read. Students copied the notes from the board that were made as a class in the given booklet.

(a) How many groups have you made?

(b) How many pencils are there in each group?

2) There are 18 pencils and you want to put them into groups of 6.

Read aloud of the book “stepping out together” was done.
 
Math – Learners revised number of objects/groups/objects in each group.
Math homework was self checked by the learners .
Language - Dictation was taken and new words were given.They were also explained the new dictation words.
Homework –
Language - Write the meaning of the words trouble, symbols, experiment ,probably and necessary in your language notebook.
 
L W E - Do week 16 day 4 and 5 as discussed.
 
Math – Do the crossword puzzle as explained.
Maintain the reading log.

UOI: Students presented their poster as a part of their UOI summative assessment and the literary event ‘Ad Mad’.

The three finalists from Resilience section for the Ad mad Literary Event are:

  • Agastya Agarwal

  • Prasham Patel

Math: Students independently solved division sums in their Math notebook.

The students were asked to do report writing and performed the first step of the writing process – Pre-writing using the article ‘Space Technology’ in the class.

Math

Students saw videos related to table of 9, 10 and solved some multiplication sums in their notebooks.

Homework:
