‘Grade 3 Imbue: Highlights and homework – 2nd March 2017’

Day 1, Thursday.

ICT: Learners were introduced to Code Studio. Later learners played the course 2 stage 3 activities on chromebooks.

UOI: Learners did few activities and reflected on the same to tune into the new unit.

Math:  1) Homework checking was done.

2) Learners practiced division sums with remainder.

Homework:

1) Practice activities of Course 2 stage 4 from Code Studio(teacher has explained what is to be done in the class)

The teacher revised the concept of multiplication with regrouping using area model and traditional method.

Homework:

Learn tables from 2 to 10 and complete the given math worksheet.

Reflection of prior knowledge activity was taken through a worksheet.

Math:

The teacher revised the concept of multiplication with regrouping using area model and traditional method.

Assembly practice was given to the students.

Homework:

Math notebook: Solve the following sums using area method and traditional method(Vertically):
1. 22 X 6

2. 83 X 4

3. 17 X 3

4. 95 X 7

Note: Revise and learn the tables from 2 to 10 on a regular basis.

U.O I – Checking of Prior knowledge through few learning engagements was done along with the reflection.
MATH – Learners self checked their homework, then feedback on the formative assessment was given followed by the Division sums.
Learners practiced division sums with remainder.
HOMEWORK –

Highlights:

Language: Students were introduced to the importance of dialogue in narrative writing piece. The teacher  read aloud a book having dialogues and collected response from the students on how it added to the writing piece. Later students read an article provided to them and added dialogues to it in pairs.

Math: The students with teachers support solved word problems by dividing fractions.

Homework:

Math: Students have to solve the following in their Math notebook:

a) What is 7/8 of 64 pens?
b) There are 55 students in a class. If 2/5 of the students are boys, how many girls are there in the class?
c) What is 5/6 of 72 cupcakes?
d) One-fifth of the 15 children at a party like carrots. How many children at the party like carrots?
e) Captain Sam went for an exploration. He travelled 1/4 of the journey by plane and the rest by a boat. What fraction of the journey does he travel by boat?
f) After Shreya picked 3 oranges, she wanted to share them with her fellow classmates. If Shreya wants to give 3/13 of an orange to each of her classmates, then how many classmates will get the orange?
g) A teacher wants to give each student 1/5 of a slice of pizza. If the teacher has 6 slices of pizza, then how many students will she be able to hand out pizza to?

 

Language: Students have to bring a book having dialogues.

  • The teacher read the story of Goldilocks using the strategy 5 ‘W’s  and 1 ‘H’.After reading the teacher discussed with students about the story elements.
  • Reading time was given.

PYP Exhibition : Learners continued to complete their life story / map. They came up with creative art work and narrated their story in the form of words or pictures.

Math : Formative assessment was conducted for ratio and proportion learned thus far.  Quantity division through ratio was introduced thereafter. Learners practices sums from Checkpoint exercise.  They also exercised estimation of ratio by comparing the area of states of India.

Homework :

PYPEx : Complete the cyclic planner.

Math :

  1. Complete the Ex 22.3 & Ex 22.4 (all questions)

[PYP Exhibition]

  • Students were engaged in creating charts representing their life story, things that define them.

[Math]

  • Students learned to divide a quantity into given ratios. They derived the formula by themselves with the help of ganit mala and jodo blocks.
  • They practiced few sums to apply their new understanding.

[Homework]

[Language]

  • A worksheet has been shared with you. You have to attempt just the first part of the worksheet i.e –  direct/indirect speech.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

  • Complete your life map and bring it to school tomorrow without fail.
  • Complete your cyclic reflection and add citations 9academic honesty) wherever required. It will be checked tomorrow.
