Students solved word problems based on real life application of fractions.
Students read the dialogues in the personal narrative piece Ã¢â‚¬Å“The Christmas presentÃ¢â‚¬Â and simultaneously observed the punctuation, grammar and vocabulary used while writing a dialogue. Later, they learnt about the conventions of writing dialogues.
In their Language Writing Notebook, the students have to write a short passage (60- 80 words) sharing their experience of interviewing their favorite sports person. (An imaginary situation).
Students have to solve the following in their Math notebook:
a) A group of grade 4 Ã‚Â students was standing in line for food.Ã‚Â 4/8Ã‚Â of them were boys andÃ‚Â 2/8Ã‚Â of them were girls. What is theÃ‚Â totalÃ‚Â fraction of students that were standing in a line?
b) Jack ran around 2/6 of the track. Jill ran around 5/6 of the track. How much farther did Jill run than Jack?
c) A box of paper clips fell on the floor. Of the 50 paper clips, Ã‚Â Betty picked up 2/5 and Binny picked up 3/5. Ã‚Â Who picked up more paper clips?
d) Add: 8/25 + 7/25
e) Subtract: 15/38 Ã¢â‚¬â€œ 9/38
f) Multiply: 4/7 x 3/7
g) Divide: 9/14 ÃƒÂ· 3/14
h) Simplify: Ã‚Â Ã‚Â 15/30, 11/11, 4/14, 6/6, 12/24, 15/20.
i) Find the LCM and HCF: Ã‚Â i) 45 and 54 Ã‚Â ii) 64 and 78
Unit Of Inquiry:Ã‚Â Ã‚Â As a part of the next unit, we are planning a day called Exchange Day on Monday, 6th March. Exchange Day is a day when the students bring in items that they would like to exchange with each other. (Do not send any expensive item. They can bring something they have in spare or access.)
