Dear students,

Grade 8 – Literature – All Sections – Highlights Of The Week.

Dear Parents

This week students identified the theme of the reader Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and focused on different stylistic devices of the text. They also discussed and annotated the text.

Students also practised using adjectives and intensifiers to create descriptive language to evoke connotations while attempting Unit 9 of Cambridge Checkpoint English Workbook. They were also given two topics and they had to write an argumentative essay on that for practise.

They have to attempt following two questions as a home-work assignment.

  1. How do firemen act as “…custodians of our peace of mind” (p. 56)?
  2. How does Mildred get rid of her frustrations and negative feelings? Does she resolve these negative feelings or just escape them? Explain your answer.
