Day 5-Highlights of the day!! (8th March, 2017)

UOI:

Read aloud of the book ‘Grandfather’s Journey’ by Allen S was done and a discussion was taken up in the class.

Language:

Students read the story ‘Bad company‘. They identified the beginning, middle and end of the story and wrote the story in their language notebook under three different headings.

Read aloud of “Sweet Surprises” by David J. Fiday was done by the teacher.

UOI:-

Students reflected upon the exploration they had in the previous session on five different stations. They discussed within the classroom the main idea behind this exploration. After further scaffolding, they could conclude that they had explored the aspects of the transdisciplinary theme ‘Where we are in place and time’ through this activity in order to understand it better. Later, in their groups, students discussed the history of their family values, traditions, beliefs etc. They could observe that these things vary from family to family. After discussion, they acknowledged that these things differ from family to family based on the culture they follow. Also, these aspects of culture have been transferred from older generations to newer ones.

Literary event :  Learners had to submit the poem for literary event on Poetry. Some students created new poem, some chose from their earlier classwork or some chose from summative assessment. They revised and narrated their poem among the classmates.

Language : Learners gave comprehension assessment by reading the poem of another classmate and answered questions asked by teacher.

Learning multiplication is fun with exciting multiplication math games!

Focus skill: Multiplying one-digit numbers, choosing numbers to reach a certain total

How to play:

  • Two players can compete against each other.
  • Each card shows four numbers in the corners and one larger number in the center.
  • You must combine the four numbers using two multiplications and either addition or subtraction to equal the larger number.
  • For every card, the four numbers must be combined in one of these two patterns:

 ___ x ___ + ___ x ___

or

___ x ___ – ___ x ___

To win one of these cards, you need to give ONE of the possible answers. There are no extra points to be earned.

Knowing their multiplication tables well, leads students on to multiplying larger numbers well, helping boost confidence, therefore leading to more successful math students.

Dear Students,

The MUN authorities have extended the registration dates for GUJARAT MUN 2017, to 20th March 2017, hence this is a reminder for all the students of Grade 7 to 12 (currently Grade 6 to 11) to kindly fill up the form for the respective MUN, latest by 20th March 2017 which is scheduled to be held in the month of June 2017.
