Day 3 Friday

UOI: Learners did an activity which was integrated with PE. They learnt about Circulatory system and the flow of blood in their body. Later learners watched a video related to the system and understood its functioning.

2)Solve the following word problems:

a) There are 455 students in the school band. Premsagar sir wants to have 5 equal rows of students on stage at their performance. How many students will be in each row?

b) Shott sold tickets for Rs. 645. Each ticket costs Rs. 15. How many people purchased a ticket?

3) Show 35/5 in all the different ways you know.

Language: Choose any 10 words from the new word list given today and make sentences.

a) If 375 kg of wheat is packed in 15 bags, how much wheat will each bag contain?
b) Smita has 216 flowers. She wants to put 6 flowers in each pot. How many pots will she need?
c) In kala utsav, students had 108 displays. There were 12 displays in each row. How many rows of displays were there?
d) Create a word problem using division fact 56 / 8.

Highlights:

UOI: Students conducted the ‘Business Fair’ as a part of their summative assessment. They had a wonderful experience as a responsible producer and very well understood the central idea of the unit.

Math: Summative assessment on shape and space was taken up.

Homework:

Language: Complete your narrative writing.

Math: Solve the following in your math notebook.

  1. Aashka had 24 beads. 6 were yellow, 6 were orange, 5 were red, and 7 were purple. What fraction of her beads were  red?
  2. Riansh collects sports cards. He has six baseball cards, three football cards, four hockey cards, and three basketball cards. What fraction of his sports cards are hockey cards? Make sure you reduce the fraction to its lowest terms.
  3. If Raj ate 5/12 of a pie and Rahul ate 2/5 of a pie, find out who ate more pie and by what fraction?
  4. Simplify the following:
  1. 36/50
  2. 85/90
  3. 54/72
  4. 24/108

Note: Students have to revise the tables till 12. There’ll be a dodging test on Monday.

Students read and comprehended part of Chapter 22 of Charlotte’s Web.

UOI:

The students conducted the Business Fair, which was a great learning experience and a big hit! After the fair, they spent time counting the money earned , and have written the details of the same in their UOI notebooks. The money will be given to them on Monday . The students will first take back the invested amount and the remaining shall be divided equally amongst  their group members.

A kind request:Please write down the investment details of your child (done for business fair) on a paper and sign it. Send it along with them on Monday, so their money can be returned accordingly.

Students have to write a Narrative piece on the topic                                          “A sad day of my life”. They will have to follow the writing process-  Pre-writing, Drafting, Revisiting/Editing and Publishing.

  • Two things that you liked the most during the process of planning and conducting the business fair.
  • Two things that you could have done in a  better way.

b)Riansh collects sports cards. He has six baseball cards, three football cards, four hockey cards, and three basketball cards. What fraction of his sports cards are hockey cards? Make sure you reduce the fraction to its lowest terms.

c)A train arrives at the station with 150 passengers on board. 2/5 of the passengers get off the train in Bombay. How many passengers are still in the train ?

  • Students listened to a video and made types of sentences related to the same in the notebook.

  • Math and language worksheets to be solved and submitted on Tuesday.
  • UOI: Journal sheet:  The students will interview their parents/Grandparents/Relatives to collect and record information regarding their migration.  The students have to refer to the following questions while interviewing and record their responses in the journal sheet provided.

Students revised the process and co-created an advertisement for selling the book “The Magic Finger” along with the teacher.

Math:

Students revised the concept of the traditional method of multiplication and solved the word problems. They also practised multiplication through area model and traditional method of multiplication.

Language:

  • Students started with a Debate on the topic “Food Policy”.
  • Formative assessment of story writing was conducted, where students, made their own story using all the elements of story writing and following the writing process.
  • Summative assessment on parsing the sentences was conducted.

The students attended the business fair and enjoyed buying the products and having delicious dishes made by the Grade 4 students.

Homework:

Language notebook: You are a realtor (a person who deals in the buying and selling of property) who wants to sell the planet(Choose any planet of your choice). Include the following points in your advertisement:

Planet name?

o What number is the planet from the sun?

o What is the distance from earth?

o What is the closest planet? How far away is that?

o What makes up the atmosphere? (Temperature, weather, etc.)

o What makes up the surface? (Any crustal activity? For example: quakes, volcanoes, etc.)

o What is its mass?

o Does the planet have any moons and/or rings? If so, what are their names?

o What is its orbital period? (How long does it take it to orbit the sun? How many “earth years” is that?)

o What is its rotation period? (How long does it take spin once around its axis?)

o What, if any, myth or legend is about this planet?

o Have any space missions visited this planet? Which ones? Did they land or just fly by?

o Anything else interesting?

Note: You can write an interesting slogan for the advertisement. Also, do not forget to include the person or place to contact)
