Day 4, Tuesday.

Star of the day: Day 3- Khwaish and Vardhan (For being focused and committed learners during the math class)

Star of the day: Day 4– Jash (For being a responsible leader)

UOI: Students wrote their wondering about the present unit.

Math: Students learnt and solved fraction word problems on unlike fractions.

Language: Students recalled all the elements of a story by referring the chapter, ‘The Selfish Giant’ from the Empowering English reference book. Also, teacher role modelled filling of the SIS grid (Story Elements Strip). Students further copied the same grid in their given booklets.

Homework:

Math: Solve the following word problems:

1. Amy ran 2/3 of the marathon. Nisha ran 4/5 of a marathon. Who ran farther and by what fraction?

2. Tia is preparing soup. She fills 1/5 of the pot with water and 12/15 of the pot with mixed vegetables. What fraction of the pot is full? What fraction of the pot is still empty?

3. Alisha and Jiya bought a pizza together to share. Alisha ate 1/8 of the pizza. Jiya ate 3/6 of the pizza. What fraction of pizza did they eat altogether? What fraction is remaining?

UOI: Interview people from other religion and find information about their – Beliefs, culture, values, tradition and rituals. (Write details in the UOI notebook)

b) Mona read 4/of the magazine in morning,while at night she read 2/7. What fraction of the magazine is left to read by her?

c) Seema’s mother cooked a pan of 9 chocolate brownies. Out of which 2/of a chocolate brownies are kept on the kitchen bench. Seema eats 7/9 of the brownies. What fraction of the brownies is left?

d) Firoz painted 2/9 of the painting on Monday and 4/9 of the painting on each days till Friday. What fraction of painting is complete by Friday? What fraction is yet to be painted?

e)  Amy ran 7/8 of the marathon. Nisha ran 1/10 of a marathon. Who ran farther? How much farther?

f) Tia is preparing soup. She fills 1/5 of the pot with water and 3/15 of the pot with mixed vegetables. What fraction of the pot is full? What fraction of the pot is still empty?
