UOI:

Focusing on the third line of inquiry – Solving problem using your imagination, an activity was conducted where students used Thinker’s key-BAR to improvise their product.

Language:

Students explored the poems given in the chapter ‘Poetry By Children on Travel’ of Empowering English and identified the similes used in the poem to understand how the poets make word pictures using creative comparisons.

Homework:

Complete the given worksheets.

Highlights and homework – Day 4 – July 20th

UOI – Students located specific places on a world map. They demonstrated an understanding of methods of navigation. They also noted the routes taken by the explorers.

Langauge: Learners revised the strategy ‘Monitoring Inner Conversation’ through 4 quadrants – Connections, Wonder, Interesting and Gist. A strategy they learned in grade 3. They were explained how they use ‘connections’ while making inferences. Further, they were introduced to strategy ‘Asking questions’ and were asked to make a connection to their learning of ‘Wonder from monitoring the inner conversation.’ Learners continued to read chapter 3 with the teacher using the strategy Making Inference and Asking Questions.

Homework:

UOI: Identify a journey taken by you, your parents or by any explorer. Note the route in the map provided to you.

Math: Complete the mix-bag in the journal sheet provided to you – Cycle 5

Day 4 – Friday. 

Language: Formative assessment was conducted.

UOI: Moving further in the unit, Students acquired an understanding of the process of problem-solving through a learning engagement. They understood that imagining or thinking of different alternative solutions and implementing one of them helps in problem-solving. They even watched the movie ‘Jumanji’ in connection with problem-solving.

ICT: Students understood the pros and cons of using screen time through an activity. Later, discussion on the importance of more face time was taken up as a class. Later, students played games in pairs related to problem-solving.

Homework: Complete the given Language and Math worksheet.

Screening of NatGeo Movies

Dear Parents,
A field trip has been organised for all Grade 7 students on July 26, 2018. The details of the same are as below:
Screening of NatGeo Scientific Movies:
 
Venue: Inox DR World
Movies:  1. The Mysteries of the unseen World
2.  The Wildest Weather
Leave from School (in School transport): 09:00 am
Return to School (in School transport):    01:00 pm (Expected Arrival to school from the Movie Multiplex)
For the same amount of Rs. 500 per student will be charged and deducted from their imprest account.
The students will be provided with
  • Refreshment (popcorn and mango juice),
  • worksheets related to the screened movies,
  • visit to the projector room (if permitted),
  • a certificate from NatGeo
The movies selected are well connected with the units of Integrated Sciences and will allow them to relate the scientific concepts learned with the real world.
