Solve the following in your Maths notebook:

1. A wireless router supports a range of up to 47 km indoors.

A) Calculate that range supported in metres.

B) Calculate that range supported in centimetres

2. When storing and stacking laptop computers you need to take into account the mass of the object. A typical laptop computer has mass of about 4 kg.

A) Calculate that mass of computer in grams.

B) Calculate that mass of computer in milligrams.

Day 4,

Math:

  • Formative Assessment was conducted.
  • The students were taken to the Bridge area and were instructed to work in pairs. They were engaged in an activity ‘How Far Can You Go?’ to better conceptualize length units. Further discussions in the class helped students understand that distances can also be measured using the standard unit. They also understood that 100 cm = 1 m

Language:

The 7th chapter: Mr Change-About and the Enchanter was read from the Reader ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’.

Homework:

Solve the following word problems:

1. A monument is made up of combined total of 90,088 sandstone and limestone blocks. If 22,441 limestone blocks are used in the monument, how many sandstone blocks are used?
2. A Sports Supply Store supplies loose golf balls in two colours – white and yellow. The total number of golf balls in the stock is 98,966. If they currently have 48,151 white golf balls. Find how many yellow balls are there in the stock?
3. A food company surveyed its customers. They found 63,294 preferred the old apple muffins, while 3,664 preferred the new banana ones. How many customers responded to the survey?

Math:

  • The students were taken to the Bridge area and were instructed to work in pairs. They were engaged in an activity ‘How Far Can You Go?’ to better conceptualize length units.

           Further discussions in the class helped students understand that distances can also be                  

           measured using the standard unit. They also understood that 100 cm = 1 m

Language:

  • Students understood that giving a good title to a piece of writing is an important skill and the best way to choose a title is to connect it to the key idea through an activity. Students along with the teacher practiced the skill in the class.
  • The 7th chapter – Mr.Change – About and the Enchanter from the Reader ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ was read to the students followed by students reading it using Popcorn strategy.
