Term 1 Syllabus of Grade 7 Language And Literature is as follows:

Unit 2 – What’s your Story? Short Stories:

  1. The Necklace by Guy De Maupassant
  2. The Landlady by Roald Dahl

Poems:

  1. Leisure by William Henry Davies

Criterion A -: Analyzing

i. identify and comment upon significant aspects of texts

ii. identify and comment upon the creator’s choices

iii. justify opinions and ideas, using examples, explanations and terminology

iv. identify similarities and differences in features within and between texts.

Criterion B -: Organizing

i. employ organizational structures that serve the context and intention

ii. organize opinions and ideas in a logical manner

Criterion C-: Producing Text

i.produce texts that demonstrate thought and imagination while exploring new perspectives and ideas arising from personal engagement with the creative process

ii. make stylistic choices in terms of linguistic, literary and visual devices, demonstrating awareness of the impact on an audience

iii. select relevant details and examples to support ideas.

Criterion D-: Use of Language

i. use appropriate and varied vocabulary, sentence structures and forms of expression

ii. write and speak in an appropriate register and style

iii. use correct grammar, syntax and punctuation

iv. spell (alphabetic languages), write (character languages) and pronounce with accuracy

Unit 3:  Do you believe in Magic?

In this unit students will:

Look at real-life heroes and the heroic qualities that transferred into storytelling as a result of the contributions of these individuals to their communities.

Explore a range of fairy tales, fables and myths and legends from the past.

Explore short stories and comics from the present.

Identify how heroes influence our lives.

Explore how authors can use language and imagery to enable us, as readers, to enter the world of fantasy.

 

Examination Detail:

 

  • The students will be assessed on Criteria A, B, C & D (Strands to be assessed are mentioned in the above table).

 

  • All the resources shared on Curricle(subject resource sheet and google presentation), Google Classroom as well as worksheets provided (online or in hard copy) will be considered as part of the syllabus and will be sufficient to prepare for the examination.
  • The paper will include short and long type responses.
