Students learned about states of matter. They are in the process of learning various physical properties of different types of materials. They have all put on their scientist caps and have started conducting experiments.

Math

StudentsÂ learned various types of angles and their construction. They also revised their learning of converting fractions to percentages and vice-versa. They took their understanding further and applied it in the construction of pie-chart.

Conduct an experiment where one matter changes to another. Illustrate and explain along with the process in your UOI Notebook. Dear Students,

Please note that yourÂ SummativeÂ assessment inÂ IntegratedÂ Science Unit – Salt LifeÂ will be conducted during IS slots from 19th March to 22 March 2019.

Information regarding SA topics, objectives and tasks of unit – Salt Life is as follows :

 Unit Name Topics Objectives catered Tasks Salt Life – Role of salts in daily life – Salt Family – Nature and properties of Salt – Law of conservation of mass – Preparation of soluble and insoluble salts – Analysis of salts – Hard water and its implications – Mole concept – Cleaning products – structure of molecules and their efficiency – Titration of solutions with various molar concentrations Objective A : i. explain scientific knowledge ii. apply scientific knowledge and understanding to solve problems set in familiar and unfamiliar situations iii. analyse and evaluate information to make scientifically supported judgments. Objective B : i. explain a problem or question to be tested by a scientific investigation ii. formulate a testable hypothesis and explain it using scientific reasoning iii. explain how to manipulate the variables, and explain how data will be collected iv. design scientific investigations. Objective C : ii. interpret data and explain results using scientific reasoning v. explain improvements or extensions to the method. Crit A : Students will calculate molar mass of compounds to solve the problem in similar or unfamiliar situation, make scientifically supported judgments for classification of salts in various groups. Crit B : Students will plan an investigation to study the given property of salts. Crit C : Students will interpret data and explain results using scientific reasoning. They will also suggest an improvement or extension for the methods.

Charged chromebooks will be required for your Summative assessments.
