[Unit Of Inquiry]

Students were tuned into the new unit ‘Earth’.
The teacher disclosed the central idea.


Writing Process (Pre-writing, Drafting, Editing, Revising and Publishing) was taught in class with the help of I Do and We Do Model. The students copied the We Do model in their language notebooks.
Chapter 1 of the nine hats reader ‘Stuart little’ was read using a comprehension strategy.
Dictation was conducted.


Multiplication facts of 5 and 6 were taught.
Multiplication vocabulary was introduced that is (Multiplicand, Multiplier and Product.)
Commutative property of multiplication was explained.
Mixed word problems related to the concept of addition and subtraction were revised where students solved 2 – 3 problems independently.
Students solved calendar word problems.
Summative Assessment of number strand was conducted.

Day 1,


Students practiced 3-digit by 1-digit division sums.


Chapter 24-‘A most exciting time’ from the reader ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ was read.


Solve the following sums and verify the answers.

Highlights and homework – Day 6 and Day 1 – March 18th and 19th

UOI – Learners focused on the transdisciplinary theme and recollected the different units they learned in the PYP so far. Later, they focused on the theme ‘How we organise ourselves’ inquired about the aspect ‘economic activities and their impact on humankind and environment.’ Learners were also introduced to the research tool Big 6. As they will be leading the inquiry for the current unit using Big 6.

Language – Learners were provided feedback for the drafting done by them in the previous session. Later, they revised and edited their draft.

Math – Learners were introduced to addition and subtraction of mixed numbers. Later, they practised the same along with the conversion of mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa.


Task 1 – Choose anyone video to revisit the improper fractions. Video 1 or Video 2. (This HW is Optional)

Task 2 – Game 1 – Fractions to whole numbers

Task 3 – Practice through division – Conversion (Rough work to be shown in the Math book) (Attempt 3 sums)

Math – Learners selected their portfolio piece for term 2.

Students practiced conversion of mixed number into an improper fraction and vice-versa.

U O I – Learners discussed the  Keywords of the central idea and also made connections with the learner profile attributes, attitudes, skills, key concepts, and related concepts.
