Dear Parents,

This week we discussed topics such as “FDI” and “Foreign Aid”. We had a small MUN-like discussion on “foreign aid”. The objective of the discussion was to evaluate the effectiveness of aid to less developed countries. The discuss was a student-led one. Active participation from all the students made the discussion very interesting. Next week, we will continue with topics such as “Multilateral Development Assistance” and “The role of international debt”.

This week we continued to discuss the role of domestic factors such as “role of bank credit and infrastructure in economic development” and “inequality”. Students were asked to prepare and present these topics in groups and they made group presentations which were impressive. We will continue to discuss the role of international trade next week. We are planning to show a documentary titled “Black Gold” for students. The documentary is about how developing countries are exploited by developed countries in the case of international trade.
