I see,I think,I wonder
During LEAP session, students reflected on a story read aloud through I see, I think, I wonder tool.The session was integrated with the unit How we express ourselves. Students reflected on what they saw or observed in the story and what they think about their observation.
They shared their curiosity by wondering and asking questions related to the story.This tool helped them enhance their observation and thinking skill(metacognition).
Under the TDT ‘How we express ourselves’, Grade 1 students learned about various symbols, images and their colours through the reflection tool named ‘Colour, Symbol, Image’- CSI. This tool helped in enhancing creative thinking in students.
During the discussion, they reflected about various colours and symbols used by different organizations, company or applications like – Apple, Fountainhead school etc.
The purpose of taking up this tool is to allow them to reflect and share their understanding about the main idea of the story or illustration.
Students used their knowledge, creativity and thinking skills while reflecting on their favourite book in a group.They selected a colour which represented their thoughts about the book and also drew a symbol for it .
Later, they created an image of their favorite part of the story or the main idea of the book. While using the tool CSI in a group, students exhibited social skills by respecting others and cooperating. Students enjoyed the session
Session on integration with the unit ‘How we express ourselves’:
During this session, Grade 1 students reflected how we express our feelings and thought by choosing different medium.
Students observed and explored various mediums- dance,drama,music, posters and books as means of expressing our ideas and thoughts.
Students were able to identify that various mediums were giving out the same message of ‘Saving trees’ in different forms.
During discussion, they also reflected on how authors and illustrators choose different medium to express their thoughts, experience and feelings.
Session on Plus Minus and Interesting:
Grade1 students reflected on the unit How we express ourselves during the LEAP session through the thinking routine tool ‘Plus,Minus and Interesting’ .
They reflected about what they liked during the unit. They shared few suggestions for the unit.
They reflected on learning engagement which they found interesting and enjoyable.
During the session , students demonstrated the PYP Attitudes ‘Enthusiasm and Cooperation’.
