Dear Parents and students,

Please find below final term syllabus and some essential points related to Grade 9.

  • Vocabulary for sets of numbers
  • Percentages
  • Estimations and rounding
  • Standard form
  • Speed, distance and Time
  • Ratio and proportion

7.  Recapitulation of Algebra includes

  • Algebraic representation and manipulation
  • Further algebraic representation and manipulation
  • Linear and Simultaneous equations
  • Laws of Indices
  • Formulae and expressions
  • Substituting in expressions
8. Sequences
9. Coordinate Geometry
10. Circle Theorem
11. Trigonometry and bearings
12. Mensuration
13. Similarity

Apart form your textbook, all other work booklets or soft copies shared on google classroom or other wise will be considered as a part of your syllabus.

Note

There will be three papers in International Mathematics – Extended exam :

1. Paper 2 – 45 minutes – 40 marks – 20% weightage
Compulsory short response questions based on the syllabus mentioned.
Use of GDC is not permitted.
2. Paper 4 – 2 hour 15 minutes – 100 marks – 60% weightage
Compulsory medium to extended response questions based on the syllabus mentioned.
Use of GDC is allowed in Paper 4.
3. Paper 6 – 1 hour 30 minutes – 40 marks – 20% weightage
One investigation and one modelling question.
Use of GDC is allowed in Paper 6.
[Important notice]
  • All the instructions will be available on the cover page of the question booklet.
  • Entire paper is to be written in the space provided in question booklet. No additional graphs or supplementary is provided.
  • Formula list will be provided in the question paper for paper 2 and 4.
  • All the resources needs to be carried by you. Sharing of which will not be allowed.
  • Graphs will be provided to you in the paper itself

Here’s what we did this week:

  1. Students practiced questions based on the unit – Mensuration
  2. Students could understand and solve questions based on Surface area and volume of cone, sphere, prism and pyramid.
  3. Students were given enough practice for the same from textbook, student assessments, review sets.

Mathematics_Grade 7 Acuity_Highlights of the week_25/02/2017

Dear Parents,

Here what we did this week:

  1. Students could understand how to substitute values of variables into the formula.
  2. They did rigorous practice of the same from the textbook.
  3. Students could also understand how to convert temperature on different scales i.e. from celsius to Fahrenheit and vice-versa.
  4. Students were given a worksheet to practice temperature based questions in class, remaining has been given as homework.
  5. Students also worked on understanding different patterns and how to create a formula based on the pattern.
  6. students could also verify on the formula they have made, whether it is correct or no.
  7. Enough time was given in class to complete questions.
  8. Remaining questions will be homework for the students.

Dear Parents,

Here’s what we did this week:

  1. Students have started with a new topic – Mensuration.
  2. Students already knew how to solve area and circumference of a circle, sector, arc length.
  3. They practiced questions based on the above concepts from their textbooks.
  4. Students could also understand and solve total surface area of 3D objects which included cube, cuboid, cylinder, sphere and cone.
  5. Students have been given weekend homework based on the above concepts.

Dear Parents,

Here’s what we did:

  1. We started new topic ‘Formulae and Substitution’. Students learned substitution into an expression and substitution into a formula. By knowing the values of variables, they were able to solve expression and formula. Doubts were catered and made clear to them.
  2. Students also learnt and understood how to solve equations with repeated variables.
  3. Weekend H.W. has been given.
