Here’s what we did:

1. Students practiced and tried to understand how different kinds of equation is solved.
2. Students also understood two other methods of solving equations i.e. Solution by inspection and Solution by guess, check and improve.
3. Students have been given rigorous practice to solve different equations.
4. Doubts were catered and made clear to them.
5. H.W. has been given to the students.

1. Students practiced questions based on Sine and Cosine rule.
2. Students were also taught to find the area of triangles using trigonometric functions.
3. Students solved questions based on the above concept.
4. Students were also taught the concept of angle of elevation and depression.
5. They have been given homework based on the above concept, submission of which is Monday.

Dear Parents,

Here’s what we did this week :

1. Students have understood the Trigonometric ratios and did extensive practice on the same.
2. Students learnt about Sine and Cosine rule and understood situations where they need to apply these rules.
3. We also discussed how these rules came into picture(derivation of these rules).
4. Students practiced questions based on sine rule and tried solving 1-2 questions from cosine rule.
5. Weekend homework based on cosine rule has been given to the students and they are expected to submit this on Monday.

2. Students were given a task where they had to find the relevance of learning this topic and where is it used in real life.
3. In trigonometry, students could understand the concept of trigonometric ratios, Bearings.
4. Students have given given enough practice for the same.
5. They will have unit test of Circle theorem in coming week.

National Mathematics Day – Volunteers for judging the event

## National Mathematics Day – Volunteers for judging the event

Dear Parents,

Like every year, this year also we are celebrating 22nd December as National Mathematics Day. This day is celebrated on the birthday of Srinivasa Ramanujan in order to acknowledge and honour his contribution to the field of Mathematics.

Keeping up with the school’s philosophy of encouraging active parental involvement in education, we would like to invite parents with relevant background in Mathematics as judges for this event.

Important points :

1. You will have to come by school bus on the day of the event.
2. You will have to come to school by 9:00 and leave by 2:00 pm bus route on the day of the event.
3. You are not allowed to assess the grade in which your child is studying.
4. You will have to come to school on 20/12/2016 to understand the rubric to be used to assess students. We will inform the time later.

Dear Parents,

Here’s what we did this week:

1. We have completed a unit – Laws of exponents.
2. In laws of exponents, students learned about exponential indices,
3. We have started with a new unit – Circle theorem
4. Students tried 3 theorems through manipulatives in Number nagar. For this, they were divided in groups of 3 – 4 each and list of theorems were provided to them and they were asked to explore these theorems. Later, this theorem was discussed in detail with the students.
5. They are given enough practice on these theorems from the text book.
6. Ã‚Â Students are expected to complete weekend homework given to them.

Dear Parents,

Here’s what we did this week:

As a tuning in activity, students were divided into groups and were given charts wherein they wrote their prior knowledge of the unit Statistics.

1. We started with a new unit Ã¢â‚¬ËœLetÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s organize and analyze to find a solutionÃ¢â‚¬â„¢ (Statistics). Basic terminologies was discussed in detail with the help of examples.
2. Later, we had a discussion about Data collection wherein we covered census, sample, Bias in sampling and sample size with real life examples.
3. Then we had a detailed discussion about Categorical Data and how to organize it using Tally and Frequency table.
4. Displaying categorical data using Vertical column graph and Horizontal bar chart were explained to students using examples on board.
5. Weekend Homework has been given to students.
