Donate books – Spread knowledge

Donate books – Spread knowledge

Hello parents

We Stuti, Anushka, Abhishek and Chahna, the students of Grade-6 are planning to take action for our PYP Exhibition topic ‘Quality Education’.

After doing comprehensive research, conducting multiple interviews and going for field trips, we have found out that there is a need for storybooks in a school named ‘Disha footpath’.

We are planning to donate story books to Disha footpath school. We request you to send some short English story books with your child tomorrow to school. Remember that your one book can bring a smile to many children.  Your cooperation and a donation will definitely make a difference!

Go ahead and spread knowledge…

Regards

Term 2 Mother Tongue Assembly

Term 2 Mother Tongue Assembly

If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart. – Nelson Mandela

Dear parent,

We take immense pride in conserving and celebrating language of every ethnicity which is one of the most distinctive quality of our nation, being entirely multilingual. Hence, to take the pledge forward and educate today’s generation about the importance of our native tongue, we schedule Mother Tongue sessions, in order to teach students not just about their mother tongue but also its significance in one’s identity.

This term we will be celebrating the mother tongue assembly with the staff and homeroom teachers. We request parents to help students with details of their respective mother tongue. Students will be sharing insights of their mother tongue with the classmates. They can:

  1. Recite a rhyme/sing a song in mother tongue/home language
  2. Share their migration history
  3. Present using different media like chart paper, google slide, etc to share details/findings of their mother tongue.
  4. Prepare general questions in the form of a quiz
  5. Prepare declamation in mother tongue/home language
  6. Compare and contrast aspects of your language with any other language (e.g. origin, alphabets, script, sounds, writing direction, shared words, etc.)
  7. Identify and write common sayings or phrases from your language that others might like to learn and have them provide translations in Hindi/Gujarati/English
  8. Explore proverbs from your language and provide the meaning of it
  9. Share a graphic presentation of some famous personality(  sharing the same mother tongue) who have contributed to the society

Date: 12th March 2019

Time: 8:55 am to 9:45 am

Important Note:

It would be great if they could bring a cultural dish to have during their Home Meal Break.

We want our students to listen to their mother tongue and cherish it, hence, your cooperation in helping the students in building a multi-cultural environment will be a great help to the Fountainhead community.

Regards,

Fountainhead School

Grade 2 Pot Luck Party

Grade 2 Pot Luck Party

Diwali aayee Diwali aayee… khushiyon ki bahaar laayee..

Our Early years students are learning this song in their morning circle! Diwali is indeed a special festival for most of us. One of the traditions associated with Diwali is the traditional sweetmeats and namkeens associated with the festival. So, to help our students connect with their roots and partake in traditions associated with festivals, the potluck this time will have the theme of Diwali special.

You can send with your child any food or sweet that is part of your family’s Diwali tradition. Don’t send a lot, you can send enough just for him/her to share with 3-4 friends. It will be nice if your child is involved in some way in preparation of the food that day and can share the significance/ ritual associated with what he/she has brought. If you do not celebrate Diwali or it is not possible for you to make any food or sweet that is a part of your family tradition, you may choose to send any traditional food item.

Students will have the Potluck party on 2nd November during their Home Meal Break (8:35 am to 8:55 am)

Happy Diwali!
