Dear parents,

Our learners have worked really hard and gained an in-depth understanding of the Central Idea: The Earth’s natural cycles influence the activity of living thingsUnder the Transdisciplinary theme: How The World Works. Grade 2 team invites you for a Student-Led Conference (SLC) on 17th, 18th, and 19th, April 2019. Be a part of this event and witness the zest of the fest. We would like you to be an active participant in your child’s learning.

We have scheduled the SLC for three days:

Note that attendance is compulsory as you would be assessing your child’s understanding of the unit and presentation skills.

Parent orientation:

Parents need to assemble in Grade 2 wing for a brief orientation about the SLC. After the orientation, the respective HRTs will escort parents to class for the presentation.

Kindly adhere to the timings mentioned. Your presence will be a great boost for your child.

Note: SLC time slots will be communicated by respective HRTs through email.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

‘I do’ and ‘We do’ of a case studies related to endangered and critically endangered animals were done in the class using different strategies like super 3 and report writing.

The success criteria were derived by the students for assessment of the ongoing unit.

Math

Creation of bar graph was done independently where they followed the steps of research skills.

Constructing meaning of Multiplication through groups was done through an Ice tray activity.

Revision of number strand was taken in the class. The practice of mixed word problems was given where the teachers helped them to comprehend the mixed word problems.

Language

Formative assessment of the type of sentences was taken.

After a read-aloud of ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’ by Robert Southey was done. Later students identified the main 5 elements of the story.

Reader: Students learned how to write answers in full sentences after reading a story.

[Unit Of Inquiry]

The video was shared for their homework related to the endangered animals which was flipped classroom strategy and the oral reflection was taken in the class. Students understood the reasons behind animals being endangered and extinct.

All the 3 LOI’s were revised through different read aloud and videos.

Math

Formative assessment related to capacity was conducted.

Mixed word problems of addition and subtraction were practiced in the class.

Creation of bar graph was done in groups where they followed the steps of research skills.

Constructing meaning of multiplication was done through an activity where ‘Repeated addition’ was derived.

Language

Students were tuned into the new writing genre ‘Narrative writing’ through exploration table.

Reader: Students used ‘Visualization’ as a comprehension strategy for making their thinking visible after reading ‘The magic finger’.
