The following are the details regarding the curriculum – Term 2 Examination for Language & Literature (English) :

Standard Level:
Paper 1 – Textual Analysis
The paper consists of two unseen texts. Students analyse one of the two texts.
Time: 1 hr 30 mins
Marks: 20
Weighting: 50%

Paper 2 – Essay
In response to one of the six questions asked students write an essay on both literary texts studied in Part 3 works.
Time: 1 hr 30 mins
Marks: 25
Weighting: 50%
Part 3 works – The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

Higher Level:
Paper 1 – Textual Analysis
The paper consists of two sets of unseen texts. Students analyse one of the two sets.
Time: 2 hrs
Marks: 20
Weighting: 50%

Paper 2 – Essay
In response to one of the six questions asked students write an essay based on any two literary texts out of three in Part 3 works.
Time: 2 hrs
Marks: 25
Weighting: 50%

Duration of the paper : 2 Hrs.
Marks : 50 Marks

Q. 1 Directed Writing (Letter, Report, Article, Diary Entry / Journal Entry, Speech / Talk and Interview Transcript ) – 20 Marks

Q. 2 Writer’s Effects – 10 Marks

Q. 3 Summary Writing – 20 Marks

The revision has already been started with the past paper practice and a few more past papers will be given to the students.

Students are expected to complete their papers on time so that they can work on the feedback given to them.
