Home Visit- A pilot project in Early Years.

Home Visit- A pilot project in Early Years.

Dear Parent,

We as a school firmly believe that the school and parents are partners in nurturing the students and helping them progress and prosper in life.

We interact with parents on various forums such as PTM (Parents Teachers’ Meeting), PTC (Parents Teachers’ Conference) and PTI (Parent Teacher Interaction) so that there is an exchange of important information and together we can nurture the child.

For a teacher it is very important that she knows and understands each of her student well. For which, what better way of getting first hand information about various aspects related to the child’s life than visiting your homes and interacting with the family! This will help teachers connect better with the students and their families and will help in developing the right approach for planning the way forward in guiding and nurturing the students.

Keeping this in mind we’re taking a new initiative in Early years i.e. Home Visit. This year we are introducing this as a pilot project so only 3 of the sections from Jr.KG and 3 from Sr.KG will be having Home visits, rest will continue with PTI-Parent Teacher Interaction which is scheduled on 13th & 14th July. The home room teacher of your ward will seek your appointment through a phone call/Daily Diary for a mutually convenient time. The teacher will be visiting your home for approximately 30 to 40 mins and it would be desirable if she could meet all the family members (all the members who stay in the house) and interact with them. It is very much expected that both the parents are present at the time of visit.

Parents are not expected to offer anything to the teacher. You may offer tea, coffee, lemonade, buttermilk etc. out of courtesy.

We believe that you will support the school in this endeavour in taking a step forward towards knowing your child better and forging a way ahead towards her/his bright future.

Note: We will be sending a questionnaire tomorrow which is supposed to be filled by the parent/s and submitted to the homeroom teacher by Monday i.e 2nd July.

Note regarding the literary event.

Note regarding the literary event.

Dear parents,

This is in regards to the Grade 2 literary event- Poetry Recitation which happened a few days back. There’s a change in the format of the event and now we won’t be having a separate final round. The 3 best performers  of the first round are the final winners. So in all we’ve 24 students from the entire grade who will be announced as the best performers. The same format was there last year too in Grade 1. And the reason behind this change is simply because we don’t want the literary events to become a platform for fierce competitions. Once again to reiterate that these events are held to motivate students to develop their literary and presentation skills and nothing beyond that. I hope, all of you will agree to this change and take it positively. Seeking your co-operation. The names of the winners (section wise) will be updated on blog by tomorrow.

Reading magic workshop for parents.

Reading magic workshop for parents.

Highly recommended session for parents!!

One of the greatest gifts adults can give to their offsprings and to the society- is to read to children.

            —Carl Sagan

Reading is an integral part of Fountainhead culture. The teachers, students as well as the parents contribute to strengthen this culture. We’re sure  you’ll  will agree to the benefits of reading aloud to our kids. Once again, we want to emphasise on the same just to ensure more and more parents read daily to their child. We’re sure some of you are really wonderful story tellers and the kids would be enjoying listening to your read alouds. But for some of us, reading aloud might be a totally untouched territory and we might be wondering how to make it more interesting for our children. Keeping this in mind, we’re organizing a workshop for the parents to develop the skills of doing an effective read aloud with kids at home. In this session, a demo of effective read aloud will be given followed by a small discussion about the reading magic program.  We highly recommend parents to be a part of this workshop and contribute to their child’s development.

Date- 19th August, Saturday.

Timings-  09:00  to 10:00 am.

Venue-  Respective classrooms.

SLC- Student Led Conference.

SLC- Student Led Conference.

Dear parents,

The time of the year is here when the students will be taking you through their learning journey, during the SLC- Student led Conference which is scheduled on 14th April, Friday . The purpose of posting about this event 10 days prior is to brief you about the same as well as help you make your plans in such a way that both the parents can attend this meeting along with the child.

The purpose of student-led conference is to help the students take personal responsibility for their learning journey and share the same with their parents.  In a Student-Led Conference, students learn how to reflect on their learning, evaluate their progress and communicate this information to their parents.  Parents learn how to listen to their children, how to encourage growth and how to best help their child with specific areas of improvement. Teacher will discuss the Term 2 reports which will be shared online on 12th April and then she’ll be there to support the student.
We’d like to take this opportunity to help our students become more reflective and responsible learners. To achieve this , we’d like you i.e. the parents  to contribute. We request you to listen to your child and ask few questions during the SLC which will be  written on the whiteboard in the class. We hope, together we’ll help our children to be responsible and reflective learners.
The link of the appointment slots will be shared with you by the HRT by 10th April and you’re requested to book your preferred slot. In case, you’ve any trouble booking the slot, you can message the HRT requesting her to book the preferred slot for you. Please avoid canceling the slot if booked once. Also  let the teacher know, if you’re unable to attend this meeting for any urgent reasons. We hope each and every parent will be a part of this conference.
Regards,
Grade 1 team.
