We are celebrating Navratri in Grade 2 on 18/10/2018 Day -2 as a part of our unit ‘Culture’ under the transdisciplinary theme- How we express ourselves. Students have learnt the folk dance- Garba in their dance slots and now is the right time to celebrate their learning as well as our local culture as Navratri is one of the most popular festivals of Gujarat.
Parents are requested to send their child in traditional clothes on that day.
Girls – Chaniya choli
Boys – Kediyu / Kurta Pajama.
Kindly note tattoos, either stickers or painted are not allowed and also ensure that the girls are not loaded with heavy ornaments and make-up. Students need to carry their uniform in the school bag as they are supposed to change immediately after the garba event which is for 1st slot only.

Students explored the “Elements of Art” (Line and Shape). Teacher read a book “Line and Circle” by Trotsky Marudu and students were asked to imagine and create a drawing using lines in their book.
They explored and drew different types of line- vertical, horizontal, diagonal and curved/ wavy lines.

Students reflected on their prior knowledge of“Elements of Art” (line, colour, shape, and space ) by exploring a dry as well as a green leaf.
They explored various objects in the classroom, around them, and made connections with 2D and 3D shapes. The learners learnt about triangular and square based pyramid properties by creating a clay model.

Grade 1 students explored primary colours and drew the colour wheel using their creativity. They explored the artist Piet Mondrian and created artwork using their own thought and inspiration from Piet Mondrian. They demonstrated learner profile attribute “Knowledgeable” an attitude “Creativity” throughout the unit.

Grade 2 students explored the primary and secondary colour through hands on activity. They even explored artworks by Paul Klee and created artwork using their thoughts and inspiration from Paul Klee. They demonstrated the learner profile attribute “Knowledgeable” and attitude “Creativity” throughout the unit.
Students were tuned into the unit How we express ourselves (Culture unit) by making them explore different art forms of different culture. They explored and learned the Indonesian folk dance. Learners demonstrated the learner profile attribute “Knowledgeable” an attitude “Cooperation” throughout the unit.

The students who have participated in Visual art competition needs to come in school uniform tomorrow it’s 16/12/2017, Saturday.
Students explored different art forms of different cultures (Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Bengali). During the exploration process they learned about forms, techniques, designs, colors and traditional ways of creating artworks. They were curious and enthusiastic to know about the art forms of different culture.
