15th October, 2015 Highlights and Homework.

Language – Homework discussion of The Bangle Seller.

UOI- Students were asked to create a quick mode of transport to save Stuart from cunning cats. The learners enthusiastically created cars, gliders and planes powered by balloon.        Through discussion they came to a conclusion that this activity was explained through Newton’s 3rd law of motion which says that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

The following videos were shown in class to understand the 3rd law. Through discussion  and few videos, we also understood the application of all 3 laws and the importance of seat belt.                                                                                                                                                                         1.http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/jams/science/forces-and-motion/action-and-reaction.htm     (about 3rd law)

2. Write about these terms in Vocab booket : mass, velocity, acceleration

3. Complete the WS given

4. Watch this video and clarify your doubts about laws of motion. Write down 2-3 new learnings.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yf0BN0kq7OU

UOI: The students were assessed on their knowledge of forces based on the kits given to them using on line Quiz.  Further discussion was taken up in the class and their doubts regarding different types of forces were cleared. They also understood how the knowledge of forces help us do things effectively, through the example of drawing water from a well(mechanical force with a pulley over muscular force) and magnetic trains over mechanical trains.

Maths: H.W discussion and revision of decimals and percentage through worksheets.

HOMEWORK

Maths- Complete both the work sheets( discussion tomorrow)

UOI- 1. Go through this link and revise the different types of forces with their examples and create a poster depicting any 3 types of forces on A4 paper. http://www.zephyrus.co.uk/forcetypes.html                                                                                                 2. Submit the science kit booklet tomorrow(if not done today)

23rd September 2015, Highlights and Homework

UOI– Learners were tuned in to the new unit where they were shown a video catering to the big idea of the unit. Link of the video shown:                                                                                                http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w                                                                                    Later on, they were divided into 5 groups and were provided with resources such as ball, hard back books, strings, rubber band, scale, papers, sponge, marbles, etc and were asked to explore these objects in their own way. They had to write answers to the questions (In what ways can you move the object? and What happens to the object after you move it?) for each object or experiment done by them. This was followed by a discussion which helped them arrive at the big idea that everything that was ‘done’ to the object was ‘Force’ and whatever ‘happened’ to the object was’ impact’.

Maths– Reinforcement of concepts of fractions. Parts of whole- decimal and percentage.

HOMEWORK

Maths– Play the fraction game – http://www.visualfractions.com/Cookies/cookies.html
