Students have to complete the homework in Math notebook:

1. During summer season, an ice cream van- driver sold 6,489 Popsicles and 1,592 ice-cream cones. How many treats did the driver sell in all?
2. In a school there are 5480 boys and 4291 girls. What is the total number of students in the school?
3. Write backward numbers: 7890 to 7865.
4. Addition:

Language

Session 1: The teacher questioned and  discussed ways of transport used by people. She made a timeline to show  vehicles used by people in the olden times.. Later, she read the lesson “From Wheels To Rocket” and explained it.

Session 2: A discussion on inventions was conducted. The teacher explained mind mapping skills. She categorized transport under land, sea, and air on a chart paper.

Math

Session 1: Revision of shape and space was done. Students solve addition sums using the splitting method, simple addition, number line and inverse relationship in their notebooks.

Session 2: Students learned to round off  numbers to the nearest tens and hundreds.

Session 3: FA on shape and space was conducted.

Session 4: Revision of commutative property and number strand was done.

Session 1: Teacher did descriptive writing on Holiday as ‘I do model’, prewriting and drafting piece.

Session 2: Students did structure practice and the teacher explained cause and effect by giving examples. Teacher revised dictation words through Hangman game.

Session 3: Teacher discussed ways of transport used by people by asking questions.She made a timeline to show the vehicles used by people from the beginning. Later, she read the lesson “From Wheels To Rocket” and explained it.

Highlights of the week and homework for the weekend!!! (4th August)

Language

Session 1: Teacher discussed the main characters of the story “The ant and the grasshopper” and made the KL chart. Students created a  mind map and wrote facts about grasshoppers.

Session 2: Teacher read the chapter and explained it. She discussed the question and answers.

Session 3: Students wrote answers to question nos.1, 7, 8, 10

Math

Session 1: Students learned about inverse relation and solved a worksheet.

Session 2: Revision of the concept of addition using the place value kit.

Session 3: Teacher and students  performed  regrouping addition using the place value kit.

Session 4: Students learned identifying 2D and 3D shapes by watching a video. Students reflected upon the new 3D shapes they have learned in the VA class. Later, students drew the square based pyramid, triangular based pyramid and prism and wrote properties of the same.

Session 5: Students learned the concept of addition using the number line.

Unit Of Inquiry

TDT- How the world works

Session 1- Students’ prior knowledge was activated through gallery walk and their reflection was taken through class discussion.

Session 2-Read aloud of the book –  There’s No Place Like Space! by Dr. Seuss

Session 3- Lines of inquiry were introduced through whole class discussion.
