Grade 7_Mathematics_Highlights of the week (13th to 17th March 2017)

Dear Parents,

Here’s what we did this week:

  1. Under the unit “Let’s understand and appreciate the beauty around us”, new topic ‘Angles formed in parallel lines when cut by a Transversal’ was taken up. Topic was explained via example sums and class discussion. Also the proofs for Alternate Interior angles, Alternate exterior angles and Co-Interior angles were discussed in detail.
  2. Students very well understood the relationship of angles formed in parallel lines when cut by a Transversal did few sums for the same in the class.
  3. Exercise sums of Angles on a straight line, Angles around a point and Angles formed within Parallel lines when cut by a Transversal has been given in weekend homework.

Grade 7_Mathematics_Highlights of the week (6th to 10th March 2017)

Dear Parents,

Here’s what we did this week:

  1. Students were explained terminologies of Lines & Angles along with Angles on a straight line, Angles around a point, Supplementary angles, Complementary angles, Adjacent angles, Linear Pair of angles and Vertically opposite angles. Students did few sums for the same in the class.
  2. Summative assessment of Unit 6: Journey into the unknown (Expressions, Equations and Formulae) was conducted.
  3. Weekend H.W. has been given.

Grade 7_Mathematics_Highlights of the week (20th to 24th February 2017)

Dear Parents,

Here’s what we did:

  1. We started new topic ‘Patterns’. Students learned how to investigate patterns. By investigating patterns, they were able to construct an equation and solve. Students did exercise sums in the class. Doubts were catered and made clear to them.
  2. Students played Kahoot on Expression and Equations.
  3. Students did real life data sums related to the Global Context.
  4. Unit test papers of Journey into the unknown has been handed over to students. Doubts of the paper were made clear to them.

  2. We started new topic ‘Formulae and Substitution’. Students learned substitution into an expression and substitution into a formula. By knowing the values of variables, they were able to solve expression and formula. Doubts were catered and made clear to them.
  3. Weekend H.W. has been given.

Dear Parents,

Here’s what we did:

  1. Students did exercise sums on Constructing and Solving Equation. Doubts were catered and made clear to them.
  2. We started new topic ‘Formulae and Substitution’. Students learned substitution into an expression and substitution into a formula. By knowing the values of variables, they were able to solve expression and formula. Doubts were catered and made clear to them.
  3. Students learned the conversion between temperature scales (Fahrenheit and Celsius degrees). They did some exercise sums in the class.

Here’s what we did:

  1. Students did exercise sums on Equations. Doubts were catered and made clear to them.
  2. We started with a new topic ‘Constructing and Solving Equation’ wherein students were explained through various examples on board. Also they were thoroughly explained with important notes to keep in mind while solving word problems. Students did few sums for the same in the class.
  3. Formative Assessment in form of Pen and Paper Test was conducted for the ‘Journey into the unknown’ unit in the Unit Test Slot on D-5 (09/02/2017).
  4. Weekend H.W. has been given.

  2. Commutative laws, Associative laws and Distributive laws were reinforced.

Dear Parents,

Here’s what we did:

  1. Students were shared with an online worksheet – Simplifying expression. In this worksheet they were expected to solve the questions using ICT tools. Logic behind making them solve this worksheet online is to prepare students for e-assessments.
  2. Commutative laws, Associative laws and Distributive laws were reinforced.
  3. We started with a new topic ‘Equations’ wherein students were explained through balance scale example. Students were thoroughly explained with important notes. Logic behind direct way of solving equation was explained to students. Student did few sums in class.
  4. Students also understood two other methods of solving equations i.e. Solution by inspection and Solution by guess, check and improve.
