Highlights of the week: 15th to 18th February

Circle Time :

Introduction to the rhyme: Ekade ek papad sek, Chaki ben chaki ben

Revision of the rhyme: I am a little fish, Mera naam he Hathi Bhai, 1..2..3..4…5. Once I caught a fish alive, My plump puppy, I have a little turtle.

 

UOI:  Animals

Central idea:

Animals and people interact in different ways in different contexts.

 

In house visit:

Bullock cart ride:

Learners had an in house visit by load carrying animal bullock, where they gained knowledge about the service bullock provides and why do we call it a load carrying animal.

Later they all set in the bullock cart and enjoyed the bullock cart ride.

 

Language:

Word of the week: Load carrying animal

 

Revision of the drills:

Which is your favourite colour?

Which is your favourite farm animal?

 

Listening & Visual skills:

Learners were asked to listen to the action songs and do the actions accordingly. This activity helped in enhancing their listening and gross motor skills and helped in developing their vocabulary too.

Speaking skills:

Teacher kept flashcards of different stories:

The monkey and the cats.

Thirsty crow

Goldilocks and three bears

The 3 little pigs

Learners were asked to select their favourite story and independently do a read aloud in front of the class with the help of given flashcards.

 

MATH:

 

Revision of colour pattern:

Learners were given rangometries and were asked to make colour patterns from it.

 

Shape:

Introduction of the 2D shape: Triangle & Rectangle

Students were shown flash cards of objects which were triangular and rectangular in shape.After that learners were given a worksheet where they were asked to identify the triangle shaped objects and colour them green & identify the rectangle shaped objects and colour them purple.

 

UOI: Play

Play based learning:

 

Goal the ball:

In this activity learners were given hocky sticks and were asked to goal the ball in the glass kept at a distance.

Through this activity learners enhanced their visual and gross motor skills.

 

Balloon balancing game :

In this activity, teacher created 2 tracks, learners were asked to do front walk holding a balloon. They were asked to balance themselves as well as the balloon.

Later, to make it more challenging they were asked to balance 2 balloons and do the side walk.

 

Balance the balloon on the stairs:

In this activity, learners were asked to balance the balloon with the help of their body and climb the stairs.

Through this activity they learnt the act of balancing.

 

7 kundala:

In this activity, learners were asked to jump from the 7 circles. This activity helped them learn 1 leg and 2 leg jump. Through this they enhanced on their body balancing skill.

 

Free Play:

Learners were given different toys like wooden blocks, soft toys, kitchen set, Rangometris and Jodo blocks to play with.

They enjoyed playing with the toys and mingled up with their friends.

This activity helped in enhancing their Social skills.

Circle Time :

Introduction of the rhyme: My plum little puppy, Machli jal ki rani hey.

UOI:  Animals

Central idea:

Animals and people interact in different ways in different contexts.

 

Tuning in activity:

 

In this activity teachers made 4 centers:

Center 1: Teacher kept different animal books. Learners were asked to explore the books and share what did they observe?

Center 2: Teacher kept different animal toys. Learners were asked to identify the different animals and share their prior knowledge about the.

Center 3: Teacher kept different flashcards of animals. Learners were asked to pick any of the flash card and share what they know about the animal.

Center 4: Learners were given the puzzles of animals. They were asked to join and create the animal picture from it.

During this activity teacher assessed the prior knowledge of learners about animals and tuned in them into the new unit.

Language:

Word of the week: Responsible, Principled

Story-telling:

4 friends, 3 little wolves, The Lion and the mouse , Monkey and the crocodile

 

Introduction of drills:

Learners were asked to do the palm painting and create the picture of fish.

Introduction: quantification of number 16:

 

Play based learning:

Broom game:

In this game learners were asked to gather the balls in the assigned corner with the help of broom.

During this activity learners enhanced their fine motor and gross motor skills.

 

Coordination game:

In this game teacher drew 2 lines on the floor. Learners were asked to keep their hands on one line and legs on other line(parallel). After that they were asked to walk on the line.

Through this activity they did Eye, Hand and legs coordination.

 

Walk on the narrow lines:

In this activity learners were asked to walk on the narrow sponge lines and were asked to balance their self.

During this activity they enhanced their Gross motor skills and the attitude, “Confidence”

 

Free Play:

Learners were given different toys like wooden blocks, soft toys, kitchen set, Rangometris, Jodo blocks and were asked to play with it.

They enjoyed playing with the toys and mingled up with their friends.

This activity helped in enhancing their Social skills.

Team game:

In this game learners were divided into 2 teams. They were asked to pass the stones one by one to their partner through bowls and the last participant was asked to fill the bowl kept down.

Rule of the game: Learners had to pass the stones to the next partner using bowl and not hands.

Through this game learners exhibited the learner profile “Principled” & the attitude “Cooperation”.

They learnt how should we energizer and work in a team.

They enjoyed the game!!!

Circle Time :

Revision of the rhymes.

Learners enjoyed circle time on the ground in fresh cool air, where they proactively sang and enjoyed the rhymes and action songs.

Rhymes: Where is Thumbkin? Aa vuni vuni, Open them shut them, etc

UOI: (Revision)

Central idea: We use our senses to discover and understand the world.

Revision of Pre-Math concept: Hard/Soft, Rough/smooth.

 

Revision of sense of sight, sense of hearing, sense of touch, sense of smell and sense of taste through different activities.

 

Language:

Word of the week: Independent.

Story-telling:

4 friends, 3 little pigs, The Lion and the mouse , Monkey and the crocodile, The ant and the dove.

 

Revision of drills:

What is your brother’s name?

What is your sister’s name?

What is your father’s name?

What is your mother’s name?

What’s the name of your school?

Listening & Visual skills

Learners were asked to listen to the action songs and do the actions accordingly. This activity helped in enhancing their listening and gross motor skills and helped in developing their vocabulary.

Learners were given worksheet where they were asked to colour the objects as per the asked colours.

During this activity learners were asked to use their sense of hearing and listen to the instructions given by ma,am.

This activity helped in recognizing different colors and built the vocabulary.

MATH:

Revision of number 6 to 15 : by counting the objects drawn on white board, counting beads, rangometry etc

Revision of Sorting of shapes

Teacher introduced the sorting of shapes through rangometry where the teacher sorted rangometry as per the diff shapes and after that learners were asked to sort according to that shape given to them.

Play based learning:

Free play:(Settling time)

Learners were given toys and were asked play in group.This activity helped in enhancing their social skills.

 

Clay play:

LEarners were given clay and were asked to make different shape’s objects from it.

This activity helped them to revise the shapes and enhanced the attitude “Creativity”.

 

Tower making:

Learners were given thermocol glasses and were asked to use their thinking skills and make a tower.

This activity hepled in enhancing the attitude “Creativity”.

Free Play:

Learners were given different toys like wooden blocks, soft toys, kitchen set, Rangometris, Jodo blocks and were asked to play with it.

They enjoyed playing with the toys and mingled up with their friends.

This activity helped in enhancing their Social skills.

 

Important Note:

  • Kindly note that 16th january is holiday for early year’s students.
  • Homework: Drawing book is given t students.

They are asked to use their sense of sight and stick green colour objects they see around.
