Language

The students started writing a narrative piece on the topic- The best day  of school. They managed to complete Pre-writing, Drafting, Revisiting and Editing stages. They will complete the Publishing stage applying the feedback given to them by the teacher.

U.O.I

A discussion upon their responsibility, of being producers or suppliers was discussed in the class. Later, the students reflected upon the process of bringing together the Business Fair. They also made connections with the central idea, lines of inquiries, learner profiles, attitudes and skills they had been and will be focusing on through the ongoing summative assessment task.

  1. FA correction to be done.
  2. Solve the following:
    a) Shaurya and Aaryam started reading Matilda together. On the first day, both managed to complete 5 out of 14 pages of the first chapter. On the second day they completed reading another 7 pages. What fraction of the chapter have they completed so far?
    b) For the business fair, Shloka and Priyal required 80 paper plates. Shloka agreed to bring 3/8th of the requirement. How many paper plates is Priyal required to bring for the fair?
    c) Harsh covers 5/7th of a kilometer on his wave board on Saturday. He covered 2/4th of a kilometer on Sunday. What fraction of a kilometer did he cover during the weekend?
    d) Aanya and Manya cleaned 1/3rd of the classroom together. Further, Shanaya and Pranshav cleaned 4/9th of the classroom. What part of the classroom still remains uncleaned?

Note: The students are reminded to bring along the Book Review sheet tomorrow without fail.

The students in their groups analyzed the data they collected yesterday through survey, to finalize any five items that they would be selling in their Business Fair. Also, a discussion on the fair pricing of their  products was taken up.

  1. Mahi ate 12/15 of a cake and Aanya ate 6/9  of a cake. Find out who ate more cake?
  2. Siddharth reads 5/6  pages and Aaryam reads 5/7 pages  of Charlotte’s Web. Find out who is ahead in reading the book?
  3. Vrusha ate 2/8 of a watermelon in the noon and 2/4 of a watermelon in the evening. How much watermelon did she consume in a day? What fraction of watermelon is left out?
  4. Write all the factors of 84 and circle all the prime factors.
  5. Write all the factors of 60 and circle all the composite factors.
  6. Simplify and check whether 18/36 and 45/90 are equivalent fractions or not.
  7. Arrange in ascending order- 12/13, 6/13, 4/13, 13/13.
  8. Arrange in descending order- 1/20, 15/20, 4/20, 13/20.
  9. Write 3 multiples of 23.
  10. Which fraction size is bigger- 3/8 or 3/6 ?

A Math Formative Assessment of the word problems pertaining to unlike fractions was taken.

The students were divided into groups and later, they conducted a survey where, they recorded responses of the students from Grade 3 and Grade 5 to understand the demand of their products to sell in the business fair.

  3. The students decided to use 1/4 of the playground for basketball and 3/8 of the playground for soccer. What part of the playground did they use in total?
  4. In Tanya’s Math class, 2/7 of the girls failed their Math examination. There are 21 girls in Tanya’s class. How many girls failed the Math exam?
  5. In a box of 100 peaches, 1/10 were rotten. How many peaches were good to eat?
