1st round

Audition

-          Audition will be held during respective PYP Drama class

-          Student participating has to prepare an a min or 2 min Solo act (can take any form)

-          Criteria for Audition will be as per details given below

Vocal traits- Volume, intensity, pitch, pause, silence, pronunciation

Physical traits- Facial expressions (eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth); gestures/objects (arms, hands, fingers, reach, grasp, manipulation); posture (head, neck, back, shoulders, stomach, legs, knees, feet)

 

2nd Round

-          Teacher will select 4 students from each section from 4 houses

-          Selected students have to prepare 3 to 5 minutes long monologue of their choice with Drama teacher’s consent.

-          Students can perform the act they have selected for audition with improvisation lead by the drama teacher

-          The final competition will be held amongst students selected from each class in front of Whole grade.

Winner show

-          Winners from the final competition will get chance to perform during Drama Assembly.

-          Registration will be done on the day of audition so no need to send any mail for registration

-          Students will not get time to prepare an act during audition

-          Please avoid taking movie scenes for auditions, try to create your own.

-          It is appreciated if the students take self written act from PYP Drama class.

Dear students and respected parents,

This is to announce the Inter-house Drama competition for  Grade 4 students.

The date for the competition will be announced later. The contestants will be selected through auditions to be held during their PYP drama classes. Participants need to prepare a two minute long Mime (solo or duet) for the audition.  Interested students can participate for auditions by submitting the online form, the link for which is given below. If you are doing duet “Mime” both the partners need to fill the form mentioning each others name. The last date of submission of online forms is 28 July 2014 by 2:00 p.m.

Auditions will be held in the coming week  i.e. from 30/7/14 to 6/8/14

NOTE: Personal responses through emails or diary notes will not be accepted before or after the deadline.

Grade-3 (Drama) Tuning in activity.

In tuning in, learners were greeted “Good Morning” using different languages by the teacher. They were asked what was the purpose for teacher to do so. During the discussion when they came up with the word ‘Culture’. Discussion on culture began. This lead to beliefs, values, customs, dances, music, drama, stories, etc. of a particular culture. In grade 2 they came across ‘Culture Unit.’ They were very reflective and very enthusiastic to answer and checked their own prior knowledge. The discussion on ‘Folk Dances’ continued where they understood that this particular art form is practised among people by observing others, for example ‘Garba, Bangra, Bihu, etc. Then the discussion lead to ‘Folk-tales’ and how it is passed on from one generation to the other verbally by people. Thus ‘Folk-tale’ was introduced to the learners. Later a folk-tale ‘Khichadi’ by Jitendra Kumar was read aloud to the learners and they observed the illustrations carefully as it was full of self design. The learners were advised that they can use these designs in their work while doing VA worksheets.
